July 4th in the District

I spent this Fourth of July at home in Washington, DC. My apartment building roof has a great view of the National Mall where the fireworks take place.

Because of the prime real estate we assumed we needed to camp out early to get good seats. This turned out to be totally unnecessary, but at least we got to enjoy the view and baking in the ungodly heat.

After five (FIVE) hours of waiting, the crowds arrived and we finally got to check out the fireworks.
