There exists a psychological phenomenon in which perfectly sane people, with no desire to die, find themselves faced with a steep cliff and experience a strong desire to leap. To jump from their safe vantage point into the unknown. This phenomenon is so common in fact, that the french have a term for it: L’appel du Vide – Call of the Void.

Every time I travel I come home with a hand full (or four) of foreign coins. Usually I find a few in my suitcase, some tucked into pockets and a bunch in my purse. I blame being from the US. I’m not used to coins being worth anything and I forget to spend them. Seriously though, coins are so annoying – they take up a ton of room, make noise and are heavy.
